About Harts Timber Sheds
Harts Timber Sheds is a family-owned timber building manufacturer based in St Helens, Merseyside.
We have been manufacturing wooden garden sheds since 1989 and sell directly from our own factory to customers across much of the North West.
Our approach is straightforward: build strong, practical timber sheds, offer them at fair factory-direct prices and professionally assemble them in the customer's garden.
Made in Our St Helens Factory
Our wooden sheds are manufactured at our factory in St Helens.
We buy much of our timber from Scandinavian countries, mainly Sweden, before using it to manufacture our timber buildings at our St Helens factory.
Customers are welcome to visit and see fully assembled sheds before buying. Walk inside, inspect the floor, roof, timber cladding, framing, doors and overall finish, and judge the quality for yourself.

Powered by Solar Energy
On average over a year, around 80% of the electricity we use is generated by solar panels installed on the roof of our St Helens factory.
This helps reduce the amount of electricity we draw from the grid while manufacturing our timber buildings.
What Are Harts Timber Sheds Made From?
Our standard wooden garden sheds use tongue-and-groove timber construction throughout.
- 12–13mm tongue-and-groove timber cladding for the shed walls
- 12–13mm tongue-and-groove timber floor and roof
- 34mm × 34mm solid timber framing
- Ledged and braced timber doors
- Glass windows, where selected
- Anti-rip polyester mineral roofing felt
- Protective external basecoat applied before delivery
- Optional pressure-treated timber bearers to raise the shed from the base and improve airflow
Our 15mm sheds are constructed in the same way as our 12–13mm sheds. The difference is the thicker 15mm tongue-and-groove wall cladding and 15mm tongue-and-groove floor.

Apex Garden Sheds
Our Apex garden sheds have a traditional pitched roof and are available in a wide range of sizes.
Depending on the model, customers can choose from different door positions, left- or right-hand door hinging and a choice of window arrangements.
Apex sheds are suitable for garden storage, tools, garden equipment, bicycles and many other everyday uses.
Pent Garden Sheds
Our Pent garden sheds use a practical single-slope roof and are available in a wide range of sizes.
Different door positions and window arrangements are available depending on the shed model.
Pent sheds are particularly useful where customers prefer a single-sloping roof or need a shed that fits conveniently alongside a wall, fence or other garden feature.
Larger Garden Sheds
We also manufacture larger timber sheds.
Many larger sheds are built to suit individual customer requirements, so they are not always listed online in the same way as our standard garden shed range.

Buying directly from Harts means you are dealing with the company that actually manufactures your shed.
There is no separate retailer between you and the manufacturer. If you have a question about construction, dimensions, door positions, windows, delivery or assembly, you can speak directly to people who work with the sheds every day.

Free delivery and professional assembly are included throughout our standard delivery area.
Your shed is delivered to your property and professionally assembled in your garden by Harts.
Before ordering, please make sure there is suitable access and a firm, level base ready for installation.
Payment After Your Shed Is Assembled
Payment is made after your shed has been delivered and professionally assembled in your garden.
This means you can see the completed shed before making final payment.
Protecting Your Wooden Shed
Every shed receives a protective basecoat, but this is not intended to be the final long-term finish.
For long-term protection, your shed should be painted after installation with a suitable exterior timber coating.
We recommend Protek Royal Exterior Paint, which we have tested ourselves over a number of years with very good results.
Correct maintenance helps protect the timber against prolonged moisture and weather exposure.
